Approximately twenty-five thousand households in south-east Queensland were left without power on the start of the week after intense storm systems impacted the state, bringing powerful gusts reaching 109km/h.

Substantial Ice Stones and Broad Destruction

Locals reported large ice chunks as large as 7 centimeters in certain regions. Meteorological experts announced that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were working to restore electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews working to address the numerous electricity disruptions.

Meanwhile, around one thousand energy customers in Victoria also faced electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area experienced its wettest day in over 500 days.

State Emergency Services received nearly 600 calls for help across the area, mostly for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

• Wyndham region - over 175 help reports

Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along large portions of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was predicted as the wettest day, with continued thunderstorm potential predicted across multiple regions of both areas.

Medical authorities cautioned that there was an higher risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
