"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and play positively, supported by an better serve.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his first professional title, took control to create a final set.

He saved 4 early-game opportunities in a tight final set before the champion secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
