Automobiles in German Town Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Police reported they were notified by a resident who found a car in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Officers state they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.

The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Police then located numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Officials say initial examinations show the liquid was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet aware of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials said they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the community for details.

An important representative commented the incident left him without words and required to be addressed promptly.

"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, recalling the death of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
